Finally Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) has received official Lineage OS support. The LOS team has released first nightly build of LineageOS 14.1 for Exynos variant Galaxy A7 2017 edition. A similar build is also expecting for Galaxy A5 (2017) edition. Galaxy A7 and A5 owners can also expect the latest LineageOS 15.1 anytime soon that brings Android 8.1 Oreo and several new features to both devices.

If you would like to install LineageOS 14.1 on your Galaxy A7 2017 (code-named a7y17lte), you can download the build right now and flash through TWRP recovery. This custom ROM brings Android 7.1 Nougat and several value added features to the device.

Samsung-Galaxy-A7 and A5 gets LineageOS support

Keep in mind that since this is the first nightly build of LineageOS 14.1, it might also include some bugs that are not identified. However, nightly builds are almost stable and ready to be used as a daily driver, but you should ready to face few issues.

The latest LineageOS 14.1 nightly build for Exynos variant Galaxy A7 2017 edition can be downloaded from here. The LOS team will also release LineageOS for Exynos variant Galaxy A5 (2017) sooner or later. Once released, you can download the latest build from here. You may also need to download Open Gapps to get Google features.

As you all know, to install the LineageOS build, you should first replace your device’s stock recovery with TWRP. Dwnload TWRP recovery for Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A5 and use Odin or Heimdall method to flash TWRP.

Installation Instruction:

– Transfer LOS 14.1 zip and Gapps zip files to your phone.

– Boot your Galaxy A7 into TWRP (use Volume Down + Home + Power after switching off the phone).

– Wipe cache, data, system and dalvik

– Tap on ‘Install’, navigate and install LOS 14.1. Once done, install Gapps as well.

– Reboot your phone and enjoy.
