Smartphone manufacturers are often very slow in releasing new Android version updates, and when it comes to older phones, the chances of getting the new version update is very less. For example, the new Android 9 Pie update will not get on many older devices like OnePlus 2, OnePlus X, etc.

The good news is that custom ROMs update many new and older devices to newer Android versions, even if manufacturers stopped software update. Thanks to XDA, you can find latest Android 9 Pie unofficial builds for many devices. The latest added devices are OnePlus 2, OnePlus X, and OnePlus 3/3T.

Of course, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will officially receive the new Android Pie update (release date unavailable), but OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X will not. Thanks to the AOSP 9.0 port, you can download and install it on your device and enjoy all-new PIE features.

For OnePlus 3/3T the known issues are NFC not working and encryption not supported, but everything else seems to be working fine. It means you can use your device as a daily driver. For OnePlus X, Camera HDR, USB MTP, Notification Slider and Off screen gestures are not working. For OnePlu 2, everything is working as expected.
