OnePlus team has released OxygenOS 1.0.2 update for OnePlus One to fix the Stagefright vulnerability. Stagefright is a security hole found in the Android operating system, which enables hackers to access any data stored on a phone by sending MMS malicious code. Google, Samsung, Sony and few other vendors has already released an update for their devices to patch the hole and now OnePlus has joint the team.
In this guide, we will let you know how to update OnePlus One to the latest OxygenOS version 1.0.2. This update patches all the libstagefright libraries. As this is a critical security issue users should update their OnePlus One to the latest OxygenOS 1.0.2 version.
For this tutorial, we will assume you have got your OnePlus One’s bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery like TWRP installed (read this guide for instruction). Before you get start, do not forget to backup entire data on your phone.
How to update OnePlus One to OxygenOS 1.0.2 to Fix Stagefright issue
1. Head over to this link [HERE], download the OxygenOS 1.0.2 ZIP file and unzip it. Put the flashable zip file onto your device’s memory.
2. Now, boot OnePlus One into TWRP recovery. To do so, switch off your phone, and then hold down both the volume down and the power button together.
3. When you are in recovery mode, you will have to wipe all the data from your device, so ensure you have got that backup ready and waiting. From recovery, do a factory reset.
4. Once the wipe is done, it is time to flash the OS. From TWRP recovery, choose ‘Install’ and select the OS zip file, then tap to confirm the flash. It might take a while to install but once it is done, your device should reboot automatically.
You should now have the new OxygenOS running on your device. Now, check your device with Stagefright Detector app [details & download] for the vulnerability. (source)
