Android One smartphones in India, such as Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream Uno and Karbonn Sparkle V is getting Android 6.0.1 OTA update (build MMB29K). This new update brings new features like the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, new emojis (around 200 Unicode 8 emoji) and new security patch to devices.

Android One users who are running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will receive the OTA update in the coming days. If you have not received the OTA update notification (check it by going to settings -> about phone -> system update), you can download and install the update manually.

Micromax Canvas A1 and Spice Dream Uno users follow the below guide to update their phone to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow manually by downloading the OTA zip file. The below procedure will not wipe your device.

How to Install Android 6.0.1 OTA update Manually on Android One

1. Download the Android 6.0.1 OTA zip file (build MMB29K) for Micromax Canvas A1 [HERE] and Spice Dream Uno [HERE]

2. Save the zip file in your phone’s SD card

3. Boot your phone into stock recovery mode. To do so, power off your phone, then press and hold Power + Volume Up button together for a few seconds.

4. In recovery, select apply update from SD card.

5. Choose Marshmallow 6.0.1 zip to flash it.

Once done, your phone will reboot. Enjoy new Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on your Micromax Canvas A1 and Spice Dream Uno.

  1. Sir I’m using canvas a1 which was running on 6.0.1 but unfortunately I lost my software I’m trying to applying from SD card but it say abroad …. Use 6.0.1/MOB31E/3142026: user/ release-key sir give me the link of 6.0.1 / MOB31E plsssss

  2. Reboot into recovery and wipe cache. Still have problem, do a factory reset in recovery (backup data before proceeding). If problem still persist reinstall your stock ROM

  3. Status 7 error means you have modified your device, so you cannot apply the OTA update. However, you can flash the full ROM

  4. And one more thing…I don’t really know what hast happened to my phone(Micromax Canvas A1) but whenever I’m unlocking my phone it’s showing “could not start Home”…..Please help me hat should I do…Please reply asap!.

  6. @kannan i am using micromax andriod one. i have the software problem. i switch off the mobile after switch on the mobile ..its not opened..i reset the mobile after same problem..in this mobile os for 6.0.1/MMB29Q

  8. Can’t install June Security update on my android one.
    It fails every time I update it through OTA, once it restarts it shows I have the update pending. Cleared cache and when it didn’t work, I Did a factory reset but to no avail. I’m using spice dream uno. Last successful update: May 1 2016

  9. I understand that you have updated your phone to 5.1 from service center. Check for unlocked bootloader, if unlocked, relock it and try the OTA update. Alternatively, you can flash the full firmware via ADB.

  10. sir, my spice dream uno android one was 4.4.4, than i updated it on ota 5.1 in dec 15 i again got 6.0 and updated it upto 6.0.1 but in a month it failed while a restart. i got it formated and installed from service center that they did to 5.1 only. i again updated that on ota upto 6.0.1 in feb16 last but again it failed when it was restarted . i wish to know how i can reinstall it at my own efforts at home. what will be requisites and from where i can get that to do from my home.

  12. When you see ‘No Command’ hold Power button, then press and release Volume up button to enter into recovery mode.

  13. Kannan, i tried what you said, but after selected recovery mode, few seconds later it is showing “no command” in my micro max android one mobile. By mobile updation also it is showing err on boot time. Please tell me how to rectify this.

  14. For updating with official OTA, your device should be in stock (no custom recovery, root access and unlocked bootloader) and update to the latest version.

  15. You may try by deleting the cache partition by going to stock recovery. Also, enable battery saver mode and app standby.

  16. While selecting from memory card. During manual upgrading in recovery mode
    There is no OTA file shown.
