Stable Android 9 Pie is about two months old now. OnePlus is one of the few OEMs who updated their devices to stable Android 9.0 Pie. After several beta testing (OxygenOS Open Beta 1 to 4), the company released Android 9.0 Pie OTA update as OxygenOS 9.0 for OnePlus 6. However, OnePlus 6 runs on OxygenOS Open Beta will not get the stable OTA update.

In this guide, we will let you know how to install stable Android 9 Pie (OxygenOS 9.0 or OxygenOS 9.0.1) OTA update on OnePlus 6 runs OxygenOS Open Beta 4 or up. Of course, OnePlus’s beta builds are almost stable and works without any major issues. However, some users might want to go back to stable OxygenOS builds and continue get the stable OTA update.

For your information, after releasing OxygenOS 9.0 with several new features, the company recently released a bug fixing update as OxygenOS 9.0.1 for OnePlus 6. The update just weighs 92MB and seems to be for fixing some critical bugs found in the previous build.

Now, here is how to install stable OxygenOS 9.0 on OnePlus 6 Runs OxygenOS Open Beta 4 (current beta version). The process is quite simple. All you need to follow the instruction.

Important: The below guide will factory reset your phone, so backup all-important data before proceeding with the steps.

How to go back to stable OxygenOS version from Open Beta

1. Download the latest OxygenOS roll back package for your OnePlus 6 from here. The file weighs around 1.5GB.

2. If you downloaded the rollback package to your PC, transfer it you phone’s root directory (Not in any folder)

3. Now, go to Settings > System updates > Menu (tap on top right corner icon)

4. In the menu, select Local upgrade > tap on the installation package > immediately upgrade.

5. The roll back process starts. Once the process is completes select Reboot system now.

You have now successfully downgraded to stable OxygenOS version, but the OnePlus 6 will be on older Android 8.1 Oreo build (OxygenOS 5.1.9). You should now install the Android Pie based OxygenOS 9.0 or OxygenOS 9.0.1 build.

How to Install stable OxygenOS 9.0.1 OTA Update on OnePlus 6

1. Check for the OxygenOS 9.0.1 OTA update by going to About phone – System update. Alternatively, you can install the update manually as described below.

2. Download the OxygenOS 9.0.1 zip file from OnePlus download section here or directly from here.

3. Transfer the downloaded ROM zip file to your phone’s storage.

4. Open the ‘Settings’ app, then go to ‘System updates’, and then tap on the top right corner icon.

5. In the menu, tap on Local upgrade, then choose the upgrade package and then immediately upgrade.

6. System will start the upgrade process. Once done, select Reboot system now. Your phone will reboot into Android 9 Pie.
