Android 8.1 Oreo based LineageOS 15.1 has been released officially for a range of devices with new features and optimizations. If you own OnePlus 3/3T or OnePlus 5/5T and want to install everyone talks custom ROM LineageOS 15.1 on it, then the below guide may help you. All you need custom TWRP recovery installed on the phone.

In addition to most of the LineageOS 14.1 features, the LineageOS 15.1 offers customizable color theme, revamped launcher with icon pack support, auto-changing light and dark UI, added QR code scanner to the Camera app and more. You can also, enjoy Android 8.1 Oreo native features.

LineageOS 15.1 for oneplus-3

Since this is the official release of LineageOS 15.1 you can expect better performance from this ROM. However, the ROM is not a stable release, so you may come across some glitches while using it.

Installing the custom ROM on OnePlus 3/3T and OnePlus 5/5T is not a too complicated process, if your device’s bootloader is unlocked and have TWRP installed. However, your OnePlus 5/5T should be decrypted, if it is encrypted.

Also, if you really need to use Google apps, then you also need to download Open-Gapps and flash after flashing the ROM. (Use arm64/8.1 only)

Prerequisites:

a. TWRP installed on your device (installation guide for OnePlus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T)

b. At least 50% Battery charge remaining on the phone to avoid the shutting down while in flashing process.

c. Backup all important data on the phone

LineageOS 15.1 Installation Instruction

1. Download the LineageOS 15.1 for OnePlus 3/3T from here, OnePlus 5 from here and OnePlus 5T from here. Transfer the entire zip to your phone.

2. Download Open-G apps (arm64/8.1) from here and transfer the zip to your phone

3. Boot your device to TWRP recovery, select ‘Backup’ and create a Nandroid backup

4. Now, select Wipe and then Advanced Wipe. Select Cache, System and Data partitions to be wiped and then Swipe to Wipe.

5. Go back to main TWRP menu, and then select Install. Navigate to /sdcard, and select the ROM zip package.

6. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the package. Once done, install Gapps zip file also.

7. Once installation has finished, return to the main menu, select Reboot, and then System.
