The latest version of Android 9 Pie is now officially available for Asus ZenFone 5 in some region. The stable Android Pie OTA (over the air) update with build number 16.0610.1812.52 rolling to ZenFone 5 ZE620KL variant. It will bring several new features and UI enhancements to the device. It will also include latest security patches (December 2018) and bug fixes.
Here is how to download and install the official Android Pie update (16.0610.1812.52-0) on ZenFone 5 ZE620KL (ASUS_X00QD). If you don’t want to wait for the OTA update notification, you can download the 1.1 GB update package (leaked) to your phone’s storage and flash manually.
The OTA update staged, so it will take some times to complete the roll out of the update. If you have not received the OTA notification on your ZenFone 5, check for the update manually. To do so, go to Settings > System > System updates to check for the update.
How to Install the Android 9 Pie Update on ZenFone 5
– Ensure your Zenfone 5 is running on software version WW_ 15.0619.1810.73
– Download Android Pie update (16.0610.1812.52) (leaked) directly from here or officially from Asus website here (coming soon)
– Save the downloaded file on phone’s storage.
– Restart the phone into recovery mode, and then select “apply updates from microSD” to proceed with the installation.
The update will bring revamped ZenUI, dark theme, new navigation gestures, new volume menu (like Google Pixel 3), and other native features of Android 9 Pie, like Adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, etc.
