The LineageOS team has extended its LineageOS 15.1 (Oreo 8.1) support for few more devices. The recently added devices are Huawei Honor 4/4X, Nextbit Robin, and Fairphone 2. Honor 4/4X was released in 2014 and later it upgraded to Marshmallow. The good news is that with the LineageOS 15.1 users can now enjoy Android 8.1 Oreo and latest security patch on the device.
LineageOS is one of the most popular, community driver custom ROM developers that release latest Android versions with latest security patch for many old and new devices. Current build is Android 8.1 Oreo based LineageOS 15.1 and the team is cooking the latest Android 9.0 Pie based LineageOS 16, which is expected to release soon.
If you own Honor 4/4X (code named cherry) and would like to upgrade it to Android 8.1 Oreo, then you can download and install the build right now. This is the first nightly build, so you may experience some unknown bugs.

How to install LineageOS 15.1 on Huawei Honor 4/4X
1. Download ROM.zip file from here and GApps from here. Save both the zip files to your phone’s SD card.
2. Boot the phone in TWRP recovery (switch off, press Volume Up + Power keys)
3. In TWRP, select Backup button to create a backup of your current firmware, just in case.
4. Now, select Wipe, then Factory Reset and wipe cache, system and data.
5. Select Install, navigate to /sdcard and select the ROM zip package. Follow the on-screen notices to install the package. Install Gapps zip file as well.
Once the installation has finished, return to the main menu and select Reboot, then System.
