How to Install Stable EMUI 9.0 (Android Pie) on Honor 8X

Honor 8X starts receiving stable release of Android 9 Pie (EMUI version 9.0.1.156) that installs new features and latest security patches on the device. The update is rolling out via over the air and the phone (Model JSN-L42) has to be running on EMUI version 8.2.0.165 to install the new EMUI version 9.0.1.156. Here is how to install EMUI 9 (Android Pie) Update on Honor 8X.

Honor 8X users who have joined the EMUI 9 beta program might have already know what the new EMUI 9.0 offers. It features an intuitive design, simplified UI, faster app launch times, full-screen navigation, Digital Balance (an alternative to Google’s Digital Wellbeing), Nature’s sounds for alarms and ringtones, and much more.

The JSN-L42 9.0.1.156 OTA update is live now for Honor 8X. The update weighs around 3.12 GB in size, so ensure a good network connection to install the update. Go through the following steps to capture the latest OTA update or download and install it manually.

Download and install EMUI 9 on Honor 8X

Method – 1:

1. Make sure your phone is running on EMUI version 8.2.0.165

2. Go to Settings app and select “System”.

3. Choose “System updates”.

4. If the update is live in your region, you will see an “Install Now” option.

Method – 2:

1. Install the HiCare app from Play Store

2. Open the HiCare application > Login > Select country / region > Agree User Agreement and Privacy.

3. Now, under Service tab, select Update > Apply > Check for new system update > Download and install.

Important Note:

1. After updating your Honor 8X to EMUI 9.0.1, you cannot use third-party launchers.

2. Though you can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in conjunction, it is recommend disabling Bluetooth while using Wi-Fi for video calling and gaming for trouble free working.

3. Backup every important data before the update and ensure enough space on the device.

4. For smooth operation, it is recommend a factory reset after installing the EMUI 9.0 version, as it will delete unnecessary cache and files of the previous version.
