Both Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have the same 12.3MP Sony camera sensor, but Nexus 6P has some exclusive camera features, such as ‘Smart Burst’ and ‘EIS’ (Electronic Image Stabilization) that are not available on the Nexus 5X. In a previous post, we showed a method to enable EIS on Nexus 5X. Now, here is how to enable Nexus 6P’s burst mode on Nexus 5X.
In this tutorial, we show you how to get Nexus 6P’s exclusive camera feature ‘Smart Burst’ on Nexus 5X without root access. Smart Burst is a high-speed shooting mode, which is usually used for capturing moving subject, such as sports photography. Google has omitted the Smart Burst feature on Nexus 5X for specific reasons, but you can get it without any issues.
Thanks to the XDA user ViRb3, he brings Nexus 6P’s ‘Smart Burst’ camera feature to Nexus 5X via the Google Camera Mod (Camera X). What is great with this Mod is that it does not require root access on the phone. All you need to download the APK file and install it.
How to capture photos using burst mode on Nexus 5X
1. Download Google Camera Mod (Camera X) [HERE] or [Source] and install the APK (do not forget to enable ‘Unknown source’ option in Settings -> Security before installing the APK)
2. Open Camera X, go to Settings and tap Burst settings to make any changes in Smart Bust, if needed.
3. To capture photos, just hold down your finger on the Nexus 5X’s shutter button.
Once the required shots are captured (you can hear the sound of each shot), release your finger from the shutter button. You can see your shots in a single stack. It will also create a GIF (slow motion video) that you can share with your friends and family. (Source – ViRb3)
