Xiaomi recently updated Mi 6 and Mi 5 to Android Oreo based MIUI 9.5, but after updating many users complaining that their phone’s battery drains more quickly even when exited apps and turned off the screen. Xiaomi may fix the issue soon, but you may follow below steps to fix the quick battery drain and overheating issue of Mi 5 and Mi 6 runs Oreo.

If you are experiencing quick battery drain, overheating and too much resource use or overnight battery drain for no apparent reason on your Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 6 after updating the device to Android Oreo, it might be due to several system services and apps that run in the background. This will keep the phone stay awake and drain the battery.

For your information, Xiaomi has updated Mi 6 to Android 8.0 Oreo with several new features. Mi 5 has also Oreo update as beta and the company recently released MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 8.4.19 for Mi 5 that brings Oreo to the both devices.

Now, if Mi 5 or Mi 6 eats up more battery and more resources after installing the Oreo update, then here is a quick fix to solve the issue, temporarily though.

Thanks to the MIUI forum member mitch002, all you need to turn off the auto-start of the following three apps: Google Play Service, Google Service Framework and Google Account Manager.
