Asus ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 5 receive new software update with improvements, bug fixes and upgraded security patch. The most important changes that this update brings to ZenFone 4 are August 2018 security patch, GPS position optimization, and upgraded GMS (Google Mobile Services). This update improves Face recognition on ZenFone 5 and fix SIP phone calling issue.
Asus starts rolling out the FOTA update for global variants of ZenFone 4 (ZE554KL_ WW_15.0405.1808.122), and ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL_ WW_15.0619.1808.38). As usual, the firmware update rollout is incremental, so it will take few hours or even few days to reach the OTA on all devices.
If you have not received the OTA notification for this update, check for the update manually. To do so, go to Settings > System > System updates to check for the update.

# Manual Installation:Â Experienced owners of both phones can install the update manually. ASUS has made available full firmware for download, if you cannot install the OTA. Suggest to backup data before starting the software update.
Note: You should download correct firmware build for your SKU. Check the SKU via Settings > About > software information > Build number and see the software version for WW, CN, JP, etc.
How to Install Software Update Manually on ZenFone 4 and 5
1. Download latest firmware update zip file for ZenFone 4 (ZE554KL) from here and for ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) from here. (Link will be updated soon)
2. Double click the downloaded firmware zip file to see another zip file it.
Note: If another zip file found inside it, unzip the downloaded firmware zip file
3. Connect your phone to your PC, move the update zip file to the root directory of your phone’s internal storage and then disconnect from PC.
4. You will see firmware update notification popped up on status bar.
5. Select it and follow steps to update firmware.
After completing the installation, your ZenFone 4 and Zenfone 5 will reboot into the new version. (Source – 1, 2)
