Xiaomi’s flagship for the year 2018, the Mi 8 was launched with MIUI 9.5 (Android 8.1 Oreo) out of the box. Recently, the Chinese variant Mi 8 received the Android 9 Pie based MIUI 10 8.9.6 beta update and the good news is that the global variant Mi 8 too received the Android 9 based MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.9.11.
If you would like to try latest features of Android 9 Pie on your Mi 8, then you can download and install he update right now. This is the closed beta and will not be available via OTA. However, the good news is that MIUI 10 8.9.11 recovery file is available for the device, so tech-savvy users can install the Android 9 beta via stock recovery or custom recovery.
Xiaomi Mi 8 is a high-end phone that powers by the latest Snapdragon 845 Octa-core processor and available in 64GB/128GB/256 GB storage options as well as 6GB/8GB RAM options. The phone features 6.21 inches Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, 12Mp+12MP dual camera, 20MP front camera, Infrared face recognition, and more. Comes to the Android 9 Pie beta update, if you are interested you can download the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.9.11 Recovery file from here (1.6GB) and flash it via TWRP. Check out our guide to know how to install TWRP on Mi 8.
After installing TWRP, you can flash MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.9.11 (Android 9 Pie beta) in TWRP by selecting Install option.
Note that once you upgraded to Android 9 Pie, you cannot roll back to MIUI 9 or MIUI 10 Oreo. This because of Xiami’s anti-roll back-protection (Source – MIUI)
