The good old Nexus 5 receives the latest Android 9 Pie update, even though it is five-year old now. This might be a good news for those who would like to taste Google’s latest Pie update on their Nexus 5.

Nexus 5 AOSP 9.0.0 r3 Pie is an alpha build (aosp-hammerhead), so there might have several bugs and missing features in this ROM. The developer may fix those bugs in the following releases. However, the ROM includes latest security patch (patch level August 5, 2018) and features like Boots, Bluetooth, Network, and MTP are working.

What does not work? Unfortunately, some important features, such as Wi-Fi, Sound, Camera and NFC do not work as expected. In addition, SELinux is permissive. In other words, the ROM is not yet ready for daily use. However, experienced users can try it on their device.
