Recently, Sony has released a testing version of Android Concept ROM based on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for few select Xperia Z3 users in Sweden. Sony’s new take on Android has some significant differences from Sony’s customized version of Android for its Xperia range of devices. It brings near stock Android (ASOP) look and feel to Xperia Z3 along with some of Sony’s most popular features and apps.

According to users who have already installed the OS, the ROM is very fast and stable. It is similar to stock Android 5.1.1 packed with some Sony’s apps and Google apps. However, the ROM misses some of the best features of Sony, such as the Stamina mode, Themes support, Double Tap to Wake and Screen Recording.

A leaked version of Sony’s Android Concept ROM has been available for download on XDA. Tech savvy users can install the OS on their Xperia Z3 (D6603) with the Flashtool. It does not require unlocked bootloader or root access on the phone. All you need to download the Flash tool and install the ftf file (Sony’s firmware file) via it.

Installation is simple. Download the Flash tool and Sony’s Android Concept ROM for Xperia Z3 (D6603) [HERE]. Copy the ftf file into the ‘Firmware’ folder (created by the Flash Tool). Run Flashtool, click on ‘Flash’, choose the ftf file, and click ok. Turn off your phone and connect it to the PC by holding Vol down button. Wait for few minutes to complete the installation.
