The latest Android Auto (version 8.7) update adds several cool features, such as the Coolwalk UI, WhatsApp calls, Digital Car Key sharing, bug fixes, and other improvements. With new features, Google removed the option to turn On and Off Wireless Android Auto. There is no option available in the Android Auto settings menu to turn it off.

It is still possible to disable wireless Android Auto if you want to connect your device to your vehicle’s Head unit via cable. Google moved the Wireless Android Auto On/Off option to Android Auto’s developer options menu. So you will need to unlock the developer mode first to get the on/off toggle.

How to Enable Developer Mode in Android Auto?

1. Open the Android Auto app on your phone.

2. Now, scroll down until you see the app version.

3. Tap on the app version repeatedly until you see the Allow Developer Settings popup window.

4. Tap OK to enable Developer mode.
