Google has enhanced Android Auto by introducing game support, allowing users to enjoy popular Android games like Candy Crush Soda Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, Angry Birds 2, Beach Buggy Racing and more directly on their car’s infotainment screen. Here are the requirements and steps to access games on your Android Auto today.

Play Android games on vehicle's infotainment system

Games are accessible with Android Auto version 14, but your device needs to be running Android 15 or higher, and your vehicle’s touchscreen must be compatible with Android Auto. At present, only a limited selection of games is available, but these games may help you kill the boring times of your driving, for example when stuck in a big traffic.

Requirements and Steps to Access Games on Android Auto

To enjoy games on Android Auto, follow these steps:

1. Update the App: Ensure that you have updated the Android Auto app to version 14 or higher.

2. Check Your Phone’s OS: Your Android phone must be running Android 15 or later.

3. Verify Vehicle Compatibility: Make sure your vehicle’s touchscreen is compatible with Android Auto, and remember that the vehicle must be in park to play.

4. Connect Your Phone: Connect your phone to your car using a USB cable or wirelessly.

5. Access the Games: Open the Android Auto launcher, and you will see a games icon. Tap on it to select the game you want to play.

6. Exit Games: These games will launch in full screen mode, and you can access an “exit” button by swiping from one of the screen edges.

Note that currently a few games (Candy Crush Soda Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, Angry Birds 2, Beach Buggy Racing, etc.) are available to play on Android Auto, but can only be played when your vehicle is fully parked. While they will appear in the app drawer even if the vehicle is in motion, they will be grayed out until you put the vehicle in park.

Limitations:

Note that Android Auto games can help pass the time during dull moments while driving. For instance, you can enjoy them while waiting in a parked car or when stuck in traffic. But the way the infotainment screens are placed in some vehicles, playing games on the infotainment screen of a car may not be comfortable as playing on a phone screen.
