Motorola’s latest smartphones, Moto X Style, Moto X Pure and Moto X Play supports external micro SD card up to 128 GB, which will help you free internal storage by moving all types of media to the SD card. However, it will not allow third-party apps to read/write to the external SD card. It means you will not be able move apps to external micro SD card.

Today’s guide shows you a simple solution to enable write access to external micro SD card on Moto X Style, Moto X Pure and Moto X Play. The fix modifies a system config file, which means it requires root access on the device. Once it is been done, your device allows apps to write to external SD card.

Android 4.4 KitKat and successors (Android 5, 5.1 Lollipop/ Android 6.0 Marshmallow) limit the way micro SD cards handled on the phone. It will not allow third-party apps to read/write to the external SD card, that is why your Lollipop device does not allow SD card write access.

However, Android 6.0 Marshmallow may have an ‘Adoptable Storage’ feature to use micro SD card as device’s internal storage.

How to Enable Write Access to Micro SD Card on Moto X Style, Moto X Pure & Moto X Play

1. First, you need root access on your device.

2. Go to Play store [HERE] and install a free app called SD KitKat fixer. Open it, and tap on FIX button. That’s it!

The app modifies a system config file and restores the old behavior of Android operating system. Now, uninstall SD KitKat fixer app from your phone, as it is pointless to keep it on your phone. (Source – XDA)
