In this guide, we let you know how to enable app notification icon beside the Notch on Xiaomi smartphone without root. It will work on Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 8, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 6, Poco F1, etc. with a notch display. Once enabled, it will display apps notification icons next to the Notch until you view the notification. What is more, it does not require root on the phone.
Why Xiaomi decided to remove app notification icons from Notch display? The notch styles are different. Rectangle notch, dewdrop notch, semi circle notch and pinhole are examples. Yes, it does allow for a higher screen-to-body ratio, but due to small space left for notifications, many manufactures, including Xiaomi decided to remove the app notification icons from their smartphone. Enable Notification Icons on Xiaomi Phone without Root
Notch Notifications for MIUI is a free app developed by XDA forum member Andrea Zanini. This app will show notification on all MIUI phones. It does not require root, just give all the permission asked, and then set the X and Y padding according to the phone display.
1. First, download the Notch Notifications for MIUI application from the Play Store.
2. After installing the app, open it and grant all required permissions (overlay, notification access, accessibility service, and storage permission).
3. In the next screen, you need to set the icon size, X and Y padding as per your phone’s display. You are done!
Note that the app is not fully stable. It will not work properly in landscape mode. In addition, you need to disable the system notification by going to Settings > Notifications & Status bar for proper working.
