The latest iteration of the new Android OS (Android 4.4 Kitkat) is slated to release in late October or early November this year. Though there will not be any mind-blowing features to expect in this update, users can surely expect enhanced and upgraded features like improved battery life, lower memory footprint, improved multi-tasking, usability of UI, easy cloud integration, and more.
Well, now the question here is which devices will get the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update?. As not all devices are cable of receiving this new update as many have yet to see the Android 4.1 update despite it being out for over a year now, we round up which devices are likely to get treated this new OS.
Android KitKat will be released within the new Nexus 5 smartphone. Being a Google phone, Nexus will be the first devices to get the new update. You can surely expect the update shortly after releasing it on all Nexus devices mentioned below:
- Nexus 4
- Nexus 7(2012)
- Nexus 7 (2013)
- Nexus 10 (2012)
Besides Nexus devices, most probably smartphones mentioned below will also get Android KitKat update.
- Samsung Galaxy S4, S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Note 3
- LG G2, LG G Pad, LG Optimus Pro G
- Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia ZL
- HTC One, HTC One Mini
- Moto X
I know the above list is incomplete. Because, Google has made it clear that Android 4.4 KitKat is intended for older devices, low-powered phones and tablets such as Galaxy S3 should be able to run this new OS.
See when you’ll get the KitKat update in the below table.
The above list is my opinion and put together based on various information and previous experience.
