Xiaomi Redmi 5 and 5 Plus was released with Android 7.1 Nougat and the device may get Android Oreo update in the future. While, custom ROM fans can get Android 8.1 Oreo on Redmi 5 Plus (code-named vince) via Resurrection Remix v6.0.0 Oreo. Official nightly build is now available for the device with May 2018 security patch and several features.
The Resurrection Remix v 6.0.0 custom ROM is comes with a ton of features and customization options. You can tweak most part of the system to make it unique. The ROM also support Substratum theme, offers various gestures, animations, latest security patch and many more.
Keep in mind that the status of the RO|M is nightly, so you may experience unknown bugs. In addition, the procedure may brick your device, so do it at your own risk.
Requirements:
Latest version of TWRP installed on Redmi 5 Plus (guide)
Resurrection Remix v 6.0.0 build (download)
Gapps arm 64/ Android 8.1 (download)
Battery charge above 50% to prevent accidental shutdown while flashing
Installation Instruction:
1. Download the Resurrection Remix v 6.0.0 latest build from the above link to your phone
2. Download Open Gapps zip file to your phone
3. Reboot your Redmi 5 Plus into TWRP recovery.
4. Tap on ‘Backup’ and create a backup (recommended).
5. Tap on Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select data, system, cache, dalvik and swipe to wipe
6. Tap Install, navigate and select downloaded ROM zip file and swipe to flash.
7. Once done, flash Gapps.zip file (optional)
8. Finally, tap Reboot > System to reboot your phone into your new OS
Keep in mind that the above procedure will wipe all data from your phone, so backup all-important data you have on the phone before proceeding with the ROM installation
