Live Caption in calls transcribe audio into text, and it will display on the calling screen. This feature will be helpful during phone calls in a noisy place where the audio often gets lost in the background sound and if you do not have proper headphones. Also, people who have hearing impairments can benefit from it.
Live Caption isn’t a new feature. It is already available on desktop via browsers like Edge and Chrome. Android has also had this feature for a long time. However, live phone call transcription on Android is rather a new feature, and it is now available as an accessibility feature on most Android phones.
Live Caption for phone calls on Android currently supports a few languages, including English, Spanish, Hindi, French, German, Italian, and Japanese. Here is how to enable live phone call captions on Android, and how to customize and use the feature on your device.

There is also an option to customize the style of the captions. Tap on the Caption Preferences option to open the settings menu. Here you can change the text color, text size, background color, opacity, and more.
Now, during a phone call, a floating box will appear on the calling screen with the transcribed text. This feature will also work with any audio playing on your device. What’s more, the automatic captioning works offline as well. And all audio and captions are processed on the device and are never stored or sent to Google.
