Xiaomi is about to launch its upcoming Android skin MIUI 11 with UI overhaul and AI capabilities. The new MIUI launcher will feature an app drawer. Until now users need to rely on third-party launchers to get the app drawer. Since most users prefer to have app drawer functionality on their phone, this might be a welcome move from Xiaomi.
The latest MIUI Launcher v4.10.6.1025-06141703 (alpha) features an app drawer. Users can access the app drawer by clicking on the app bar middle button. However, Xiaomi may add the swipe up gesture to access the app drawer (like in the Poco Launcher) in the stable build. In the app drawer, you can view recently used apps on the top and other apps in alphabetical order below it.
The upcoming MIUI launcher will also feature App shortcut. Similar to Apple’s 3D Touch like function, this touch gesture feature will show up app functions when long-press on an app icon. This feature allows users to quickly perform different functions like opening an app, call a contact, increase/decrease volume, etc.
The MIUI launcher (v4.10.6.1025-06141703) is in the alpha stage of development, so we can expect more improved features and functions in the stable build. Xiaomi may soon release the new launcher and will be available as a part of MIUI 10 or MIUI 11 software update.
Alpha version of MIUI launcher APK with app drawer and app shortcut is available for download. Interested users can download it from the link below and try it on their phone.
Note that this Launcher will not work on non-Xiaomi phone. It requires a smartphone runs MIUI.
