After introducing the ‘Shallow Hibernation’ engine to save battery on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Greenify now introduces a new experimental feature called “Aggressive Doze” to better control Doze mode on Android 6.0 Marshmallow (the feature is available with version 2.8 beta). The best part of this feature is that it does not require root access on the phone.
Doze Mode is a battery saving feature for Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This mode will put your phone into deep sleep whenever it is left on standby, extending battery life. Greenify’s ‘Aggressive Doze’ can better control this by activating Doze mode as early as the screen goes off and deactivating it when the screen is back on or the charger is connected.
Though ‘Aggressive Doze’ feature does not require root access, you need to perform a one-time privilege escalation procedure, which requires ADB and fastboot drivers installed on your computer. Read this post [HERE] to know the procedure.
Below is the complete changelog of the latest release of Greenify.
– New experimental feature “Aggressive Doze” for Android 6.0 exclusively. (No ROOT required!)
– Seamless auto-hibernation experience in non-root mode. (no screen flicker any more)
– Updated wake-lock-free hibernation engine, with wake-lock permission removed!
– Better support for MIUI.
– Embedded online FAQ for troubleshooting.
– Various bug-fixes.
Note that “Greenify’s “Aggressive Doze” is not the complete solution for a better Doze mode. It is expected to maximize the power-saving effect of Doze mode, but may also break some background functionality of your apps”.
