To prevent copying contents from media CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray discs, manufactures often use copy protection mechanism like SecuROM, SafeDisc, etc. on discs.
To find out which protection method is used on a CD or DVD, here is a tiny utility called BurOut which can recognizes more than 50 and nearly all well known copy protections.
The application is very simple to use and its user-friendly interface makes it possible to scan CDs and files for protection mechanisms with few mouse clicks. Additionally BurnOut has language support for English, French, German and Italian.
However Burnout does not give more information about the protection it has found on the disk. But, you can search it on internet to find out if and how the disk can be copied.
Bournout works well with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and 7 and requires .NET Framework 2 for Windows 2000 and XP.
