Google Maps for Android updated to version 5.7 with a number of new features and improvements. A most exciting feature attracted me is offline view of map, which is a lab feature that allows you to download an area of the map for offline view.Google-Map
To download an area of the map, long press on the center of the area that you would like to save, then tap the bubble. Before that, enable the Download map area option from the lab feature.

Another feature is Transit Navigation. Here, GPS is used to identify a user’s current location, their route, and it alerts them when it is time to make a transfer.

Other changes are, improved battery power management for navigation, receive search suggestion based on previous direction destination and visited places, GPS stop – by – stop public transit directions in navigation, etc.

You can read more about this new update at official blog here. Interested users can download the new map (version 5.7) from here or update it directly from your device.
