Update Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 to Android 4.2.2 and Bring Galaxy S4 Features

Though Samsung yet to release Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware for Galaxy S3 (it is expected to be released in June), a leaked version of Android 4.2.2 ROM (I9300XXUFME3) for Galaxy S3 has been available for download. This Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware brings many nifty features of Galaxy S4 to S3 such as S4’s Camera features, Adapt Display, Driving mode, new S-Voice and more.

Official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware for Galaxy S3 will be released in June, however, if you can’t wait for the official OTA update, just go ahead and get flash right now. Read below for details and installation instructions.

Note that, this leaked ROM is actually an unofficial release, which needs to be tested for bugs and performance. However, according to the leaked source Sammobile, it is pretty stable and working perfectly.

Installation (Flashing) Instructions:

Note that, this ROM only support unlocked GSM Galaxy S3 GT-19300

– Download Android 4.2.2 ROM (I9300XXUFME3) Jelly Bean from source here.
– Unzip the file and run Odin 3.04 (already included in the firmware package)
– Restart phone in download mode by pressing and holding Home + Power + Volume down buttons
– Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
– Select PDA and add the firmware I9300XXUFME3_I9300OJKFME1_HOME.tar.md5
– Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
– Click “Start” to begin flashing, and wait a few minutes. Your phone will be rebooted. Enjoy!

How to solve bootloop or restart issue after updating

If you encounter any issues with the firmware such as bootloop, boot Galaxy S3 into recovery mode (Home + power +vol up) and choose to wipe/factory reset. (This will erase all of your data including from internal SD card, so backup your data before flasing). That’s all!
