Recently I have come across an error message – “Error retrieving information from server” – when trying to update an app on the Google Play Store from my Android phone. After a little research, I have found a solution to fix the issue. If you receive such an error message (for example, “Error retrieving information from server [RPC: S-5: AEC: 0]) when you trying to install or update an app from the Play Store, here is how to fix it.
This kind of errors may be due to your device’s identity failure or your Google account information is not up to date. To solve the issue, try the following things.
– First, delete the Google Play Store data from your device. For that, go to Settings >Apps > Google Play Store >Clear Data & Clear Cache.
– Now, delete your Google account from your Android phone and add it again. For that, go to Settings – Accounts and sync. Tap your Gmail account and tap “remove account”.
– Once your account is removed, add your account again (Settings Account and Sync – Add Account and add in your Google account)
If above method not worked, try to update all your Google Account information (including your credit card information) by going to your Gmail (Google) account. It should work.
