How to Stream Any Audio Playing on Your PC To Android Phone Easily

1

Few months back we had published an article on streaming audio and video to Android phone. Here is another, very simple way to stream audio to more than one Android phone from a computer via wireless network. All you need to do download an app called SoundWire from Google Play shop and a server app from the developer of SoundWire. With this app, you can stream anything playing on your computer – music from Media player, Grooveshark, Spotify, YouTube, or iTunes – to a number of Android devices over Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G network.

SoundWire streaming app comes handy in several situations. For example, you can use your Android phone as a wireless headset while watching a YouTube video on your computer, use as a wireless extension of your PC-based music system for parties or stream music to multiple phones and have the same music playing in all your rooms at home.

How to setup SoundWire client app (for Android) and server app (for Windows)

Step 1: SoundWire server app is designed for Windows. Download (2MB) it from the developer’s site here. Install it on your computer and run it. A window will come up with details of IP address.

Optional: If you want, you can also adjust sound level, and choose audio input type (Mic, AUX, etc) from the server app.

Step 2: Now install SoundWire client app on your phone from Google Play Shop and run it. In the text box next to ‘Server’, enter the IP address displayed on your computer, and then simply tap SoundWire logo. The app will connected to the server using a wireless network (Wi-Fi, 3G/4G networks). That’s it.

Once connected, whatever you play on your PC the audio will be streamed wirelessly to your Android phone.

Optional: From the client app’s settings menu, you can specify a name for each of your Android phones, for example, Phone 1, Phone 2, etc. Also, you can tweak the audio buffer size to avoid any lag or delay in the audio stream.

Note: SoundWire has two versions, free and paid. Full version can stream audio to 10 Android phones, while the free version works 30 minutes each time you start it. The server app is free.
