Facebook Blocker Stops Facebook Scripts and Social Plugins

Facebook Blocker is a browser extension that can stop Facebook social plug-ins such as ‘Like’ buttons and ‘Recommended’ lists running on websites and blogs. Most importantly, it can also stop any Facebook scripts from tracking your browsing history.

Facebook Blocker extension now available for Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera browsers and is able to stop Facebook social plugins—including those within iFrames—from running on sites other than Facebook itself.

However, it will not stop Facebook Connect. If your site using Facebook Connect for sign in purposes, or that use Facebook as a conduit for other functionality will continue to work.

Mozilla Plugin Check like service for Google Chrome and IE

You‘ve probably heard about Mozilla’s plugin check for Firefox, which helps us to check add-ons and extensions for security issues.

Older and outdated browser plug-ins could lead to potential vulnerabilities and security holes and make a way to enter malware and other security threats into your system.

Because current browsers have no built-in mechanism for auto-updating plug-ins, we need to check it regularly by hand for a safer web experience.

The security company Qualys has developed a Browser Checking tool for Google Chrome, Internet explorer and Firefox, which is similar to Mozilla Plugin Check that scans your browser for installed plug-ins and lets you know if they need to be updated.

BitDefender AntiSpam Solution for WordPress

Bitdefender the well-known computer security software developer has released an Antispam solution for self hosted WordPress blogs.

Spam comments and spam trackbacks are one of the major problems with most blog owners. Of course the WordPress spam filter plug-in Akismet has good detection rate, but most often it marked legitimate comments as spam, which is also a big issue.
