Playing games with game pad or game controller could improve your response time, precision and overall game play than with mouse and keyboard. Would you like to turn your Android phone or iPhone into a game controller for playing online games on your computer? Here is how to convert your Android or iPhone into a game controller for online games.

To convert your Android or iPhone into a game controller, you need an app called WanderPlayer for your PC and mobile device. This app turns your phone into a gamepad for hundred of free online games. The app is free and works for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

Step 1: Download WanderPlayer app for your computer and install it. Then download the mobile version for Android (from Google Play) or iPhone (from App store) and install it. Once both versions are installed, run the app on your computer.

Step 2: With the program running on your computer, start the WanderPlayer app on your mobile device. Enter your e-mail address and name (this is only for feedback purposes) when prompted.

Step 3: Tap the ‘More’ tab at the bottom of the screen (on Android), tap on Consoles and select your computer from the list. (On the iPhone version, Consoles can be selected in the Consoles tab).

Step 4: To play a game, select the ‘Play’ tab in the mobile version and select desired game from the list. Remember that, both your computer and mobile device should be connected on a same wifi network.

The game will launch in your computer’s browser and you will be able to control it using the buttons that appear on your mobile device. Enjoy games!.

Verdict: Installation and playing games are simple and smooth. However, I have found an issue on my Windows PC. When launching games, it always launches in Chrome and in full screen mode. I couldn’t find an option to close Chrome other than task manger.

Cloud storage is one of the most useful services offered by the Internet. Once your files are stored online, you can access them from anywhere. There are several services like Dropbox that offer free and paid storage space online; however, creating your own personal cloud storage has some advantages. For example, there are no spaces restrictions, as it is your personal cloud, all files are safely hosted only on your PC.

Here is how to setup personal cloud storage and access your files from anywhere on iPhone, Android or a PC using a free app called Bdrive. It is quite simple use; just require only two steps to complete the work.

Firstly, set up Bdrive Server on your PC or Mac. For that, download and install the Bdrive Server app (27MB) on your computer and run it.

Click ‘Add’ button to add folders (e.g. My Documents) that you would like to share. Each folder has its own Bdrive server ID (BID). BID is a 6-character identifier randomly generated, which is required to access your folder from Bdrive clients, so note it down. You can also set password for each folder, which is optional.

Secondly, set up Bdrive Client for your iPhone, iPod, Android or Windows PC.

For iPhone and iPod touch, install the Bdrive app from the iTunes App Store (it is free). Add the BID you want to access by clicking the + button.

For Android, install the Bdrive app from the Android Market. Then, add the BID you want to access by clicking the ‘Add BID’ command in options menu.

You can now download PC files and photos to your iPhone or Android by clicking the ‘Download’ button. You can upload your iPhone/Android files and photos to your PC by clicking the ‘Upload’ button.

For Windows, install the Bdrive client for Windows from developer’s download page. Add the BID you want to access by clicking the ‘Add’ button. The drive letter is set to ‘B:’ by default, but you can change it to any available letter (Windows only).

Now you can browse through your files in Windows explorer like a hard drive.

Last year I featured here about a virtual personal assistant for Android called Speaktoit Assistant, which gives iPhone’s Siri like feature on Android now available on iOS devices also. As Siri is now only offered to iPhone 4S owners and if you own an iPhone 3GS or other iOS devices (which can’t get Siri) and like Siri like feature on your older (or new) iOS device, Speaktoit would be the best alternative.

If you aren’t familiar with Siri, the biggest benefit that iPhone 4S brings to us, is a virtual personal buddy that uses voice recognition and spoken responses to let you search, make calls, and manage your calendar hands-free.

Speaktoit Assistant is a virtual buddy for iPhone or iPod that uses natural language technology to answer questions, find information, and connect you with various web services, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Evernote, and many others.

The Assistant works with your device to get maps, search for news and images, look up weather reports, convert currency and measurements, send email, and much more.

Of course, on your iOS device, you can hold the Home button down for a few seconds to access Voice Control, but I think it doesn’t offer anything near Speaktoit Assistant functionality.

Note:

Speaktoit Assistant is not a free app. It costs you $1.99 to purchase on the App Store, but will be FREE to the first 100,000 people on Valentine’s Day download. However, it’s still free on Android.

Though, no adverse health problems have been established as being caused by mobile phone radiation until now, minimizing your exposure to cellular radiation can avoid any possible risk that might happens in the future. Here is a smart and practical way to minimize your exposure to cellular radiation with Tawkon app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android.

Keeping a distance (30 – 40 cm) between your ear and handset is the simplest way to minimize your exposure to mobile phone radiation, but Tawkon (free app) helps you do this in a smart way. It monitors and analyzes real-time mobile phone radiation as a function of dynamic SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) levels, environmental conditions and phone usage and tells you what to do right now.

In simple word, it tracks your phone’s radiation levels and tells you when you’re OK to talk on and how to minimize your exposure to mobile phone radiation just when you need to.

Tawkon for Android gives the following features.

Real-time Radiation Indication: Before and during a call, a tiny icon on your home screen changes from green to yellow to red indicating low-moderate-high levels of radiation risk.

Danger Zone Mapping: Your phone works harder in different network and personal usage conditions.

Prediction Mode identifies those high radiation areas in your home, office or neighborhood.

Real-Time Prompt and Feedback: tawkon subtly alerts you when exposure to radiation rises during a call, with simple instructions to minimize risk. Real-time feedback confirms that your actions were effective.

Personal Stats: Dynamic statistics show you how much radiation you avoided during the last call, day, week, month and six months.

Get more details and download at developer’s website here. Android users can download the app from Android Market here.

Smartphone (iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, etc) are getting numerous features and improvements day by day. As a result, some of the background features such as location service, syncing and other features can drain your device’s battery life even on standby mode. Here is how you can save battery charge of your iOS device (iPhone, iPod, iPad) with BatterySense app from Philips.
BatterySense is a simple and free app for iOS devices that help you get the most out of your device’s battery by suggesting what settings you need to adjust to achieve more battery life while on the go.

Based on your device’s current battery charge, BatterySense shows what functions such as playing video and music, gaming, etc of your device (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad) can use and for how long. It also suggests ways to preserve battery charge based on how long you need your battery to last.

BatterySense is quite simple to use. The app’s main screen displays your current battery charge.

Tapping a button shows you estimated time remaining for the most common activities including: Talk time (for iPhone), Internet calling (for iPod Touch), eBook reading (for iPad), Internet use, Audio Playback, Video playback, Standby time, Game play and Time until fully charged.

However, all these are depending on a combination of factors, including your battery’s age. Moreover, BatterySense doesn’t actually turn any settings on or off. You can follow BatterySense suggestions by simply browsing to your device’s Settings.

My suggestions to save battery charge of your new iPhone:

You can turn off following features when they aren’t necessary to preserve your phone’s battery charge.

Turn OFF Location Services, Turn OFF Bluetooth, Turn Auto Brightness ON, Disable Ping, Turn OFF iCloud Sync, Turn OFF Time Zone Adjustment, Disable Diagnostic & Usage Reports, Disable 3G & Cellular Data, Turn Off Push Notifications and Turn Off Vibration.

Interested users can download Philip’s BatterySense at iTunes Store for Free.
