Lenovo owned Motorola starts rolling out new software update for Moto G5 (build NPN25.137-93) and Moto G5 Plus (build NPN25.137-92) with November security patches. The OTA (over the air) update is currently seeding to Brazilian variant Moto G5 (XT1672) and Moto G5 Plus (XT1683). Besides the November 2017 security patch, the update also includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of the phone.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus owners will get the OTA update (weighs around 159MB) in the coming days. Users can also download and install the update manually (download link below). If you have not received the OTA update notification yet, check it by gong to Settings > About phone > System updates.

As this new software update brings important improvements to the phone, all users are recommended to update to this new version. The update will fix critical vulnerabilities that affect your device and ensure better securities (security patch level November 1, 2017).

If you have not received a notification message for this update, follow the steps below to manually update your phone:

Go to Settings > About phone > System updates. Select “Yes, I’m in”. After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.

How to Install November Security update on Moto G5/G5 Plus Manually

1. Download Moto G5 (Cedric) OTA zip file (NPN25.137-93) from here and Moto G5 Plus (Potter) OTA zip file (NPN25.137-92) from here.

2. Save the downloaded file to root of the memory card.

3. Now, go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.

4. Update will be auto recognized the file and user will be prompted to apply update.
