The 3-year-old Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro will not get the official Android Nougat update, but you can update your Z2 Pro to Android 7.1.1 Nougat via the custom ROM LineageOS 14.1. LineageOS (former CyanogenMod) has released an official nightly build of LineageOS 14.1 for Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, which brings Android Nougat, latest Android security patches and various new features.

In this tutorial, we will walk you through how to install official LineageOS 14.1 on your Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. The custom ROM brings Android 7.1.1 Nougat, features like multi-window, improved battery optimization, night mode, bundled notification, and several other new features to enhance user experience.

For installing LineageOS 14.1 on Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (code-named ‘kingdom’), it requires root access and latest version of TWRP recovery installed on the phone. If you have not it, install the latest version of TWRP by downloading it from here and get root access by flashing Super SU zip file via TWRP recovery.

Note: Before start, this version of LineageOS is a test/nightly builds and it might include bugs that are not yet identified. Do not install it on your primary handset.

Note: Before installing the ROM, backup every data you have on your phone.

How to Install LineageOS 14.1 on Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (kingdom)

1. Download LineageOS 14.1 zip file for Vibe Z2 Pro from here and transfer the zip files to your phone’s internal memory. Also, download Gapps package from here (7.1, arm) and transfer it to your phone’s internal memory.

2. Now, boot your phone into TWRP custom recovery (Switch off the phone and use Power + Volume Up + Volume Down buttons together to switch it on)

3. In TWRP, select ‘Wipe’ and wipe data, cache and factory reset.

4. Go back to the main recovery menu, select Install, navigate to the LineageOS 14.1 zip file, and flash it. Wait until the flashing process finishes. Also, flash Gapps zip file in the same way.

5. Once the installation has finished, return to the main menu and reboot your phone.

  1. Am unable to install this rom, I keep getting an error message.

    My phone had a chinese rom that did not work in Europe so I installed another “paid” rom from the net which am on at the moment. its a personlised 5.0.2 version of android

    any idea how can i bypass this and install LineageOS 14.1…. it looks fascinating.
