BlackBerry Messenger or BBM, which released as a free download to Android (also to iOS) last October, became one of the most popular cross-platform messaging services in a short period. You can install it free on devices running Android 4.0 and above, and chat with your Android, iOS and BlackBerry owning friends.

Once it is installed and set up, BBM cannot be closed. A persistent notification icon appears in the status bar, but you can turn this off in Settings menu if you find it annoying.

How to turn off BBM’s persistent notification on Android?

1. Run BBM and tap on the three vertical dots. It’ll bring more options.

2. Tap on “Settings” and under “Notifications” switch off the “BBM Connected Icon” option. That’s all!

Please note that, when you turn off the BBM connected icon, BBM messages might not be delivered or delivery might be delayed if your device’s memory is low.
