Manually Update Lenovo K3 Note to Android 6.0 & Enjoy TheaterMax and Marshmallow Features

Lenovo K3 Note owners in India can now enjoy Android 6.0 Marshmallow and TheaterMax. Lenovo starts rolling out the Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update for K3 Note in India with support for TheaterMax technology and Marshmallow features like Doze battery management, simplified app permission system, etc. As the OTA update rolled out in phases, it will take some time to get the update on all K3 Note devices.

In this guide, we will show you how to manually update Lenovo K3 Note to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The most exciting feature the update brings to the device is official support for TheaterMax technology, besides Marshmallow features.

TheaterMax technology (first introduced in Lenovo K4 Note) brings an immersive large screen experience on Lenovo K3 Note via Lenovo’s AntVR headset. TheaterMax converts digital multimedia content into a three-dimensional (3D) experience, giving users a virtual large screen cinematic experience when viewed through a VR headset.

The Marshmallow update for Lenovo K3 Note weighs 1657MB (build number K50a40_S322_160314_ROW), which you can download and install manually, if you have any issue updating via OTA.

First, if you have not received the OTA notification for Android 6.0 update, check it by going to Settings -> About phone -> System updates -> Check for update. If update is available, let it download and install.

If no update is found for some reasons or cannot update via OTA due to network issue, you can download the OTA update file and flash it manually.

How to Update Lenovo K3 Note (India) to Android Marshmallow

1. Download Lenovo K3 Note Marshmallow OTA Update file [HERE] (1.6GB).

2. Rename the file as ‘’ and save it on your phone’s SD card

3. Boot your K3 Note into Recovery mode, select ‘install update from sd card’ and select the file.

4. Once the process has finished the installation, reboot your phone and enjoy Marshmallow features and TheaterMax technology (source – XDA).

Guyz there is no need to install the update previous just download the update file and rename and select it default storage as internal storage and place the file into sdcard and don’t place it in any folder just openly paste in to SD card I have done D’s method and it is successful and it takes around 25 mins to reinstall the apps again and there are no loss of data do it at our own risk.

OTA update file will not support rooted device. You have to first unroot and then flash the full stock ROM

The mentioned file is OTA, so your phone should meet certain requirements. Also, enough space is required for successful installation

Try by wiping cache partition in recovery. If that not helped, try by factory resetting (back up every data on the phone before proceeding) the phone.

SD card error means you have not enough space on the SD card for installing the system update. Free up space on the sd card and repeat the process. Still have issues, backup any data on the phone, then factory reset and install the OTA update.

You will not be able to install OTA update on a modified K3 Note. Should be on factory state and latest os version.
