Android KitKat has also an interactive notifications feature built in, but hidden. The ‘Heads up Notifications’ enables this feature and provides a way for users wanting to reply to a message or email without leaving the app they are currently using.

For your information, CyanogenMod team, the popular custom ROM developer was first discovered this hidden Android KitKat feature. They have quickly set off this feature and included it in their ROM. By installing their latest CM 11nightly build ROM, you can enjoy this feature.

However, if you do not want to use CyanogenMod, but want to try out Heads Up notifications, MohammedAG has developed an Xposed module named ‘Heads up Notifications’. The module will enable the Heads Up feature on your phone.

Keep in mind that, like CyanogenMod, there is no option for blacklisting notification on this module, so you will get banner notification for every new notification, regardless of its priority and apps. However, the developer is working on it to fix the issue.

Installation Instruction:

As you know, for installing this module, Xposed framework must be installed on your phone. Also, your phone should be running Android 4.4 KitKat.

Download the ‘Heads up Notifications’ Xposed module APK from here and install it. Then launch the Xposed Installer and go to the “Modules” section. Enable the module by checking the checkbox and Reboot the device. (source)
