As you may know, smartphones such as iPhone, Android or Windows Phone are available in both SIM locked and SIM unlocked state (also known as factory locked, carrier locked and network locked) for purchasing. While SIM unlocked phones can be used anywhere without restrictions, SIM locked phones can only be used in specific countries and under specified networks. If you are about to buy an iPhone or looking to switch networks and are not sure about your iPhone’s SIM lock status, here is how to check it with its IMEI number.

Every mobile phone has a unique 15-digit IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. Based on this number, you can check some information about the device like brand or model. Also, you can check SIM lock status of an iPhone with IMEI number.

  1. I mean I tried to type the code *#7465625#, but it said invalid MMI code. I don’t know how to type letters “SIMLOCK” on the keyboard, so I wonder if I can find the number of “SIMLOCK” somewhere? Thanks 🙁

  2. What does it mean if the result doesn’t have “Check network and simlock” and “Free simlock status check”? My phone is Galaxy S3. Thanks
