Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Android One devices has confirmed and Micromax Canvas A1 is the first device to get the Marshmallow OTA (over the air) update (MRA58M). OTA update for other Android One phones, such as Spice Dream UNO, Karbonn Sparkle V, etc. is imminent.

Captured by an XDA contributor arpanbag1996, this official Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update (build MRA58M) is meant for Micromax Canvas A1 and can be installed via stock recovery. However, users should update their Canvas A1 to build LMY48M (Android 5.1) to apply the update.

Android-one

Micromax Canvas A1 users who updated their phone to LMY48M (Android 5.1) check for Android 6 OTA update by going to Settings -> About Phone -> System update. It will take few weeks to receive the OTA notification. If you cannot wait for Google to officially release the OTA update, then you can use the manual method.

How to Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update on Micromax Canvas A1

1. Download the Android 6.0 OTA file (MRA58M) for Micromax Canvas A1 [HERE]

2. Transfer the downloaded OTA zip file to your phone (Do not put it inside a folder)

3. Now, switch off your phone, then boot into stock recovery mode (not CWM/TWRP). To do so, press the Power and Volume up buttons at the same time. Now, select recovery mode, you will see a dead Android with exclamation mark and “No Command” written below it. Hold Power, then tap Volume up (follow the order properly) and leave it.

4. From recovery, select “install update from sd card”, select the OTA zip file and wait for the update to be installed.

5. Once the installation process finished, reboot your phone.

Now your Canvas A1 will boot into Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Enjoy all the new features, including ‘adaptable storage’ on your phone (Source – arpanbag1996)

  8. OTA update should install automatically once you accept it. If you downloaded the file from external source you may follow the instruction. If that does not worked, you may need to install via ADB which requires some technical skill.

  10. Status 7 error means you had modified something on your phone or you are trying to flash a different ROM. Android Marshmallow OTA update is already available for your phone. Just check it by going to system update. If you have modified something, evert your phone back to original state

  12. Try by deleting cache by going to stock recovery. If that not helped, reinstall the firmware. We haven’t find any issue with Android 6.0 on Android One phone (Spice dream uno).

  16. Your device should be on Android 5.1.1. Also, it should be on stock recovery with no root access, and sometimes you may need to place the firmware on your SD card (not on internal memory).

  17. Facing same err while installing.insufficient space available though there is 1 gb internal n 6 gb external free space on my mobile

  18. I think you have made changes to the system, like unlocking bootloader, installing custom recovery or rooting. If nothing did, try by factory resetting your Android One

  20. Marshmallow definitely will improve battery life. You may try deleting cache partition by going to system recovery mode. Also, enable power saving mode

  21. Upgrade to Android 6 on my Micromax Canvas A1 has lead to severe battery drain problems. I have to recharge the battery every 10-12 hours, despite the fact that the phone has minimal usage and I use Clean Master to hibernate all Apps, switch off the WiFi when not being used and use all other power saving steps. Could you please advise me how to roll back to Andoid 5 (Lollipop) or even the original Android 4 (KitKat). Pleas help me out!!

  22. It seems that Android 6.0 brings good battery life and performance. In your case you need to look into some areas. First, wipe cache partition by going to recovery. Secondly, enable battery saver option. Also, look for apps that consumes battery in the background.

  32. STATUS 7 error means you had something modified on your phone. If nothing modified on your device, but still receiving the status 7 error, do a factory reset, then updat to the latest version of Android 5.1.1 (LMY48M) and then apply the Marshmallow update
