Switchr is a nifty app that brings Windows style app switching on Android devices. Once installed, you can swipe from left to right on the screen to bring up recently used apps and select the desired one from the stream, which means you can get the true multitasking benefit on your Android device.

Switchr works like the swipe gesture used with Windows 8 or the Alt-Tab key combination of Windows 7 for switching recently opened apps. That is, this app makes you run multiple programs side by side on the screen – no need to exit the running one and re launch the other.

Switchr

The app provides two style of app switching – Flow and Slide. Selecting Switchr Flow displays icons using a fuzzy but easy to use cover flow animation, while Switchr Slide brings up one app icon at a time (Windows 8 style swipe gesture) and switches directly to the app.

Setting up and configuring the app is quite simple. You can make Switchr to launch on boot, select switching mode and define the margins of the area in which you have to swipe to access it from the settings menu. Please note that, you need to keep the area as narrow as possible to avoid any interference with other Android features activated by gestures.

Note: Purchasing a Pro Key removes ads and provides more options like swiping up and closing app directly.

You can download Switchr from Play Store. It supports Android 2.1 and later.
