This extension allows you to control your entire computer, perform various tasks and even access resources that are connected to your computer from anywhere using your Chrome browser.

However, as it is still in a developing stage, it has limited features. According to the extension’s details, “The goal of this beta release is to demonstrate the core Chrome Remoting technology and get feedback from users. Additional use cases such as being able to access your own computer remotely are coming soon”.

Here is how to install Chrome Remote Desktop

1. Download (19MB) and install the extension on your Chrome and sign in with your Google account. Click “Continue” button.

2. On the next page, click ‘Allow access’ button.

3. If you want to let your computer act as the host computer, click on “Share this computer”.

4. This will launch the app and you will be given a onetime access verification code, as shown in the screenshot below.

5. To begin sharing your desktop, provide this 12-digit access code to the person who will be assisting you. Remote users click “Access a shared computer”, enter the code and see your desktop in a new chrome tab on their computer.

The extension has extensive usages. As a remote user, you can completely control the host computer from a remote computer. Open up start menu, create new files, browse through explorer, install applications, delete files and folders and perform any action on the remote computer- all via your Google Chrome browser. (via)

Another feature of AVG Mobilation is Safe Search option. Because most of us spend an incredible amount of time online using a web browser and the activities performed using them, is a favorite attack vector for cybercriminals.

If you use the Safe Search option, it scans your search results and places a safety rating next to each link. Additionally, it scans web pages every time you type web address in the background before you enter. If the page is infected, it prevents you from opening it.

Mobile Control Panel is the third option. If you sign-up and register your Android device, it lets you find your lost or stolen Android smartphone or tablet, lock or wipe it remotely from your Chrome browser and Chrome book.

Using the AVG Mobilation extension is quite simple. After installing it from Chrome Web Store, (it is free), just click its icon from the Tool menu and select your option. For example, to scan a file select ‘Cloud Anti-Virus’ option and then choose your file and click Start Testing button (via)

The plug-in is simple to use. Just install and enter a password from the plug-in setting menu and save it. Each time you start the browser will need this password.

If the password does not match the browser immediately closes. You can change your password in the plug-in settings.

But this extension can also be used for defeat keyloggers from disclosing our login details (user names & passwords) and other sensitive information to hackers.

Keyloggers is a small program that can log your key presses and transmit this to a hacker’s server. If you enter confidential details like passwords, credit card numbers, etc directly through your keyboard there are many chances to disclose these details to hackers.

The Virtual keyboard extension adds a virtual keyboard to text fields, password fields and text areas in Google Chrome.

It supports more than 80 different keyboard layouts and you can configure them through the options page. To switch between layouts you can use the shortcut key Ctrl+Q.

To enable or disable keyboard on all tabs, either click on the page action icon in the Omnibox or press Ctrl+Space.

Here is an extension from Google called Google SSL Web Search (beta) that lets you add Google SSL Web Search and provides option to make it default search provider in Google Chrome.

This extension is doing just what I mentioned in that article and is very simple and straightforward to install.

However, currently Google SSL Web Search extension supports Chrome developer version (dev 6.0.419.0 and later) only. If you want to add this on all versions, refer this article.
