Firefox 5 Final Available For Download

Just a few weeks after the final release of Firefox 4, Mozilla released final build of Firefox 5, which is now available via company’s ftp servers and expected to be available officially on June 21, as scheduled. Unlike previous builds, Firefox 5 has undergone a faster development and I think Mozilla is trying to be like Google’s approach in Chrome for releasing updates and new versions.

Mozilla’s plan don’t stop at the 5th version of Firefox, the company revealed that Firefox 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be released in the 2011 calendar year with new features and security enhancements.

Though it is uncertain that what new features Mozilla’s plans for upcoming build of Firefox, features such as Home Tab instead of Home button, in-built PDF reader as in Chrome, improved security and sharing feature, improved video integration as well as the performance of plug-ins and add-ons may be included in the coming builds.

Control Auto Play of Music And Videos on Websites

Music and video embedded in a webpage is nice. It will start playing when you enter the page. But, it will also unnecessarily increase your broadband usage, takes long times to load the page (on dial-up), and utilize more memory. For Firefox browser, the extension ‘Stop Autoplay’ helps you solve this issue.
Stop Autoplay blocks the auto play of the embedded music and movies in a website and then play it when you wish by just clicking the play button.

To disable auto-play of embedded music you have two modes to choose:

Disable only the autoplay of the embedded media. In this option, the media file will still be loaded and embedded when page is loading. To play you need to click the play button.
Block the media completely when loading a page. It will be replaced by a frame with a play button in the center of the window. Click in the frame to load and then play it.

Resize YouTube Video At Any Size With FlashResizer

FlashResizer is a handy Firefox extension designed to resize flash player available on sites like YouTube. You can resize flash player window (and also flash game window) at any size by just dragging. This is quite useful, especially on some sites that does not even allow to switch to full screen mode.
FlashResizer extension adds a nearly-unnoticeable two-pixels-width vertical green line next to flash objects, which what you’ll use to perform the resize (see screenshot). You can change the size and color of the vertical bar from the option menu.

As well, by double-clicking that green line, the flash player will automatically adjust the Flash element to the browser window’s inner width/height.

Url Security Shows you the security level of websites

Url Security is a useful extension for Firefox that shows you the security level of a web site you are visiting. It turns the URL bar into green on secure sites and yellow on partially encrypted sites.

Of course Firefox has security indicators (it displays https in the address bar and a lock icon in status bar), but not big enough to grab a user attention.

Url Security is designed to solve this problem. As said above, it turn the URL bar green on secure sites (SSL encrypted) and yellow on partially encrypted sites.

Surf the web by your voice commands instead of usual typing

What about surfing the internet by using your voice commands rather than the usual typing? It will give more fun, enhance your browsing experience, and also save time.

Now it is possible with your favorite browser Firefox. The add-on Firesay lets you surf the web by voice. Just say your search queries or say the sites name that you want to visit instead of typing them.

Firesay is now in Beta phase. Currently it works only on Windows 7 (not work on Windows XP, Linux and Mac) and recognize only few key words like Facebook, Twitter, Bing, Google, etc (Full list here). Moreover the voice recognition engine is more sensitive to surrounding voice.

You can download Firesay at here and experience a new, more natural, intuitive and efficient way to get to the content you need with a microphone or webcam. I tried it here, but the result was not as expected.
